UK online player wins Full Tilt FTOPS XV Main Event

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

Unfortunately for Full Tilt Poker the $500 main event of their fifteenth FTOPS tournament series was a little overshadowed – despite beating its $2.5m guarantee it couldn’t quite match up to the hype surrounding a 36,000-player Sunday Million.

FTOPS Main Event Winner JackQKA Denies Being Underage, Backed

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

The winner of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) Main Event, JackQKA, has denied being 16 years-old and having a backer, according to a thread on the popular forum TwoPlusTwo. JackQKA remains atop the FTOPS XV Main Event leaderboard.

In a thread posted on Tuesday afternoon on TwoPlusTwo, JMaverick, who had joined on the same day, lashed out at the FTOPS XV Main Event winner. He explained that last December, he noticed JackQKA playing on ESPN’s poker site. JMaverick decided to let his new pet project have a go at a few MTTs and the student racked up $1,000 in just three events. JMaverick promptly staked JackQKA until the latter had built his own bankroll and then the two parted ways.

In October, JackQKA requested additional backing and JMaverick purportedly transferred $2,500. He wrote, “I had 50% of him on all of his tournaments though until he paid me back.” JackQKA took home $237,000 for winning the FTOPS XV Main Event and JMaverick demanded $115,000, or roughly 50% of the haul. JackQKA allegedly said no, which prompted the following rant from JMaverick: “JackQKA first of all is only 16 Years Old, his parents have no clue he plays online poker… Jack I am telling you I will personally call them and tell them there gonna need legal representation because if I dont see $115,000 in my account by 12AM this will turn into a legal issue!”

On Wednesday, JackQKA responded on TwoPlusTwo, claiming that he’s 24 years-old and has never been backed during his poker career. The winner, whose real name is Jack, added, “I have been playing poker seriously for about 2 and a half years, mainly on pstars under sn jackellwood but also on ftp as jackqka and on absolute as ellwoodinho. For most of this time ive been a low-mid stakes mtt grinder with reasonable success. On Sunday I had by a long way the best results ive ever had and for some reason someone has decided to post a load of bs about me.”

About an hour after his original post, the accuser seemed to rescind his desire to seek legal recourse. After talking to his lawyer, JMaverick confessed, “I made a mistake outing him and there was no official legal agreement in place. This is now a private matter. I made a mistake posting on here! I may have screwed myself out of getting my money and if I do not get it I know the time will come when I will ship one of these.”  JackQKA goes by the name “Ellwoodinho” on TwoPlusTwo and claimed that instead of arguing whether or not he owed JMaverick $115,000, he was out partying to celebrate his FTOPS Main Event win.

Meanwhile, JMaverick continues his search for $115,000. Yesterday around 4:00pm ET, he wrote, “I will try to talk to the kid when they come on either myspace or facebook tonight,” but JMaverick has not provided any further update as of 1:30pm ET on Thursday. The tournament had a $535 prize pool and was the largest FTOPS Main Event ever held, weighing in at 5,645 players.

Some posters cleverly responded with clips from “Bad Boys,” while TwoPlusTwo posters tried to squash rumors that JMaverick had actually played in the FTOPS Main Event and was merely seeking to move up the pay ladder as a result of a disqualification. TwoPlusTwo poster “zeppy” explained, “The original poster JMaverick of this thread is one of the higher place finishers in the FTOPS and started this thread to try to get FullTilt to escalate its normal procedures into an investigation and subsequent disqualification of JackQKA in order to move up one place in the payout award for the FTOPS tournament.” No user named JMaverick appears on the FTOPS XV leaderboard and zeppy later retracted his claims.

A source close to Full Tilt told Poker News Daily that following the FTOPS XV Main Event, site officials checked for multi-accounting and verified JackQKA’s ID. He passed with flying colors.

BigMich08 Wins Full Tilt Poker FTOPS XV Event #25

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

Full Tilt Poker’s multi-annual poker series features a whole range of different events. Along with games from Omaha to Razz, there are also plenty of different format variations to keep high-stakes tournament junkies on their toes. Conventional ideas like shootouts and deepstacks make their mark as well as the cashout tournaments that are unique to Full Tilt. One of the more popular variants took centre stage for Event #25, a 6-max Knockout contest that favored the aggressive player and awarded competitors who employed a ruthless streak. This was a $240 + $16 tournament, with $40 of the buy-in placed as a bounty on the head of every player. Whenever you eliminated an opponent, you collected his bounty, encouraging fast-paced play where big stacks develop very quickly.

Fondness for the format, along with a relatively low buy-in, encouraged 5,093 players to enter Event #25, one of the highest turnouts for FTOPS XV. It took over 12 hours for the players to crown a winner. The buy-in easily surpassed the $800,000 guaranteed for this event, with 492 players picking up a portion of the $1,019,000 prize pool. The event was won by little-known BigMich08, who picked up $194,763.99 on top of plenty of knockout bounties. In second place was Ozzy87 for $119,293.20, followed by 3rd place MrJackhOFFman who collected $82,791.52.

The Event #25 champion is otherwise known as Matt Glassley, but, otherwise, is not known very much. His total online tournament winnings of $221,397 are almost all from this event, but at just 26 years old he has plenty of time to build on the biggest success of his career. To date, he has no major live cashes. Somewhat more famous is the second place finisher Ozzy87, real name Aurangzeb Sheikh. Ozzy is a high stakes cash game player of the highest calibre, who regularly tangles with Phil Ivey and cohorts on Full Tilt. The 21 year old has millions in online winnings and has featured on a WPT final table. He also managed to rack up two cashes at his first ever WSOP in 2009. The young Sheikh has courted controversy in the past, having been arrested for reckless driving and possession of marijuana.

The tournament was hosted by Full Tilt pro and Cardrunners instructor Ryan Daut. The New Jersey born player is only 22 years old, but already has a $1.5 million WPT title to his name. He beat fellow internet sensation Isaac Haxton to take down the title at the 2007 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. He is a member of the Cardrunners teaching academy, where he learnt the skills that have helped him become one of the strongest players online. Like Bertrand “Elky” Grosspelier and Hevad Khan before him, Daut is a convert from competitive Starcraft.

Ryan failed to make the money in his own tournament, but plenty of his Red Pro brethren managed to pick up a small return on their investment. The most successful sponsored pro was Chris Wolters, who picked up $1,876 for his 50th place finish. Christoph is an old-school poker pro and expert in 7-Card Stud, however he clearly had enough hold ‘em talent to notch up this impressive score. He was the only Team Full Tilt member to finish inside the top 100, but plenty of his compatriots found their way into the 492 cash places. Among them were Damian Salas (149th), David Benyamine (151st), Stefan Rapp (157th), Martin Kaleser (216th), Issac Baron (276th), Hans Vogl (436th), and Dag Mikkelsen (491st).

Final table payouts were as follows:

1.    BigMich08 $194,763.99
1.    Ozzy 87 $119,293.20
2.    MrJackhOFFman $82,791.52
3.    Tannina80 $61,176.00
4.    kleath $44,862.40
5.    E Tyme $30,588.00

Mcmatto wins Full Tilt Poker FTOPS XV Event 24

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

Event #24 of FTOPS XV was an extremely unique event. It was a $500 buy-in tourney with a twist: it was a Super Turbo. The 910 players that entered the event began with 300 chips and the blinds beginning at 15/30. In other words, the players only began with 30 big blinds! Without needing to be said, this event is among the shortest of all the FTOPS events. This season’s Super Turbo event only lasted two hours and forty-five minutes. One-hundred two players made it into the money.

The final table was seated as follows:
Seat 1 – Bttech86 (79,014)
Seat 2 – The FatFISH (33,419)
Seat 3 – The Fiend 34 (46,356)
Seat 4 – glowin20 (25,682)
Seat 5 – AZNNC (20,724)
Seat 6 – Mcmatto (67,805)

As the final table began, blinds were up to 1,200/2,400 with an ante of 300. The largest stack has 33 big blinds which foreshadowed a short final table to follow. A large hand brewed as TheFatFISH’s AcKd saw a AhTh5h flop. Unfortunately, the same flop gave The Fiend 34 a set with his TdTc. TheFatFISH was drawing thin. The 8d turn or Qh river did not help TheFatFISH and he finished in sixth place.

The very next hand, The Fiend 34 scored another knockout. He knocked out glowin20’s As9d with his KdQd and was the first played to cross the 100,000 chips mark. Bttech86 took a beating for most of his chips when he shoved the button with Ad2d and AZNNC called with AcKh. Bttech86 was in bad shape with only 4,000 more chips. He hit the rail two hands later when he was knocked out by Mcmatto.

The table proceeded peacefully until the following hand changed that. AZNNC’s QdQh was up against The Fiend 34’s AdKh. Unfortunately for The Fiend 34, the JhJd7d7s2h board failed to pair any of his hole cards. AZNNC won the 178,000 chip pot and left The Fiend 34 ailing with 17,000 chips. Soon after, The Fiend 34’s Ac2h lost to Mcmatto’s Qd9c and he was knocked out of the tournament.

Heads-up play started with the two players agreeing to a chop that would secure $80,000 for each of them. Heads-up play did not last long (as was expected). In the final hand of the tournament, Mcmatto went all-in from the button with QsTs. AZNNC called with Ad6c and the lead. Lady Luck was not on AZNNC’s side however as the Th8s4c gave Mcmatto the lead. The 9c on the turn gave AZNNC some hope with a gutshot straight draw, but the river was a 5d. Mcmatto took home the pot, $80,842.50, and the Golden Jersey for his win in FTOPS XV Event #24.

dfhjik Wins Full Tilt Poker FTOPS Main Event

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

The FTOPS Main Event concluded early this morning, finishing off yet another highly successful series of events for one of the world’s biggest poker sites.  This year 27 events tested some of the best tournament players in the world as more than $17,000,000 in Guaranteed prize money was up for grabs. The Main Event alone had a $2,500,000 Guarantee which is huge for a $500+$35 buy-in event. The prize pool eventually swelled to $2,822,500 as 5,645 players entered the day’s biggest event.

The Main Event was hosted by FullTilt professional and world-class poker player Allen Cunningham.  Cunningham is highly respected in the poker community not only for his cash game skills, but also for his five WSOP bracelets.  He has won bracelets in four different disciplines in including Seven-Card Stud (2001), Deuce-to-Seven Draw (2002), No Limit Hold’em (2005, 2006), and Pot-Limit Hold’em (2007).  He currently sits at number 8 on the all-time tournament earning list at $10,398,118.  Allen is also a feared cash game player who has made quite a splash in recent seasons on FullTilt’s live Million Dollar Cash Game.

Joining Cunningham were more than 70 other FullTilt sponsored professionals included a few huge names in live and online poker.  Patrik Antonius, part-owner of FullTilt and widely considered one the of top-5 Pot-Limit Omaha players in the world was on hand and narrowly missed out on the money in 946th place.  Finishing just after Antonius in 926th place was former WSOP Main Event Champion (and recently reinstated FullTilt Pro) Carlos Mortensen.  Mortensen was not the only Main Event champion as Huck Seed was also on hand but took a quick exit in 5039th place. Other big names from the live poker scene who played were Erick Lindgren, Gavin Smith, Lee Watkinson, and Peter “Nordberg” Feldman.

These great live pros were joined by a slew of online professionals including Mike “Schneids” Schneider who finished inside the top-100 in 98th place.  Schneids is one of the biggest Limit Hold’em winners in online poker history, having beat the highest of stakes for millions of dollars over the past five years. Another player with a Limit Hold’em background, Matt “Hoss_TBF” Hawrilenko, joined in on the fun but barely could get going before he busted in 4912th place. Other big names in online poker on hand were Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby, Eric Liu, and Mike “Timex” McDonald. The best finish out of all the professionals came from Michael Tureniec who took 33rd place and $5,645.

Unfortunately there is not a whole lot to say about the final table. In fact, there’s practically nothing. After “trojancountry” was busted in 9th place and “vice67″ fell in 8th, the remaining seven players decided to chop the remaining $1,500,000 left in the prize pool. This process, called “chip-chopping” leaves each player with a certain dollar amount based on their chip count.  Despite finishing in 3rd place in the final standings, “dfhjik” was actually the chip-leader when the chop was made which left him with the biggest piece of the prize pool, $261,077.25. Because of this he is truly the biggest winner while the person walking away with the FTOPS Gold Jersey avatar, “JackQKA”, took home nearly $25,000 less than the actual champion.

Congratulations goes to dfhjik, JackQKA, and all 720 players who made the money in the FTOPS XV Main Event

FTOPS XV Main Event Ends in Seven-Way Chop

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

A total of 5,645 players entered the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) Main Event on Sunday. In the end, the $535 No Limit Hold’em tournament featured a seven-way chop, with JackQKA ultimately coming out on top for $237,000.

The FTOPS XIV Main Event attracted a field of 5,471 players, meaning that attendance in the quarterly tournament series’ finale was up by 3%. Additionally, the field marked the largest FTOPS Main Event in history and the second largest of FTOPS XV. A colossal seven-way chop ended matters, as each player ultimately took home at least $172,000. According to coverage found on Bluff, $72,000 was set aside for the tournament’s winner – still a substantial chunk of change – and the seven players pressed on with the gold jersey also at stake.

In the end, JackQKA defeated PageUpV for the title, earning $237,000. For PageUpV, second place was actually worth more, as his bankroll was boosted by $239,000. PageUpV, whose real name is Andrew Buechner, hails from Pennsylvania and previously has notched wins in the Full Tilt Poker $38,000 Guaranteed and $75,000 Guaranteed for a combined total of $42,000. Additionally, he won the PokerStars $3.30 rebuy in November for $13,000. In the FTOPS tournament’s final hand, PageUpV was all-in with K-6 against JackQKA’s pocket aces. No bad beat was delivered as the better hand held for the title.

Booted in third place was dfhijk, who collected $261,000, the largest payday at the FTOPS XV Main Event final table. dfhijk came out on the short end of a race with pocket eights against JackQKA’s K-10 in his final hand, as the flop of K-Q-10 gave JackQKA two pair. The turn and river both blanked for dfhijk, setting up a massive chip lead for JackQKA entering heads-up play.

The drop in prize money between seventh and eighth places was dramatic. The Fluke1200 finished in seventh place for $172,000, while vice67 grabbed eighth place and $42,000, or one-fourth as much money. Rounding out the nine-handed final table of the FTOPS XV Main Event was trojancountry, who cashed for $29,000. Here’s a look at the final table payouts reflecting the seven-handed deal:

1. JackQKA – $237,644
2. PageUpV – $239,485
3. dfhijk – $261,077
4. ReloadPlz – $186,531
5. SurferKel – $236,865
6. TheJunkie – $194,050
7. The Fluke1200 – $172,591
8. vice67 – $42,338
9. trojancountry – $29,636

A bevy of brand name players made it deep in Sunday’s FTOPS XV Main Event. Joe Cassidy, who took 13th in the $50,000 HORSE Championship during the 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP), finished 12th yesterday for $20,000. Casey “bigdogpckt5s” Jarzabek, who sits at #7 worldwide in the prestigious PocketFives.com Online Poker Rankings, took 22nd for $7,600. Meanwhile, Full Tilt Poker sponsored pro Michael Tureniec finished in the 33rd spot on the leaderboard for $5,600.

Wrapping up on Sunday was the second day of the FTOPS XV Two-Day Event, which attracted a field of 794 players. The top 84 split the $2 million prize pool, with BadcardsAA taking down the gold jersey and $430,000 top prize, the largest payday awarded during the 15th FTOPS. Coming in second place was Ace18, who earned $282,000. High-stakes cash game player UgotaBanana, who has tangled with Swedish online poker sensation Isildur1, finished in third place and pocketed $202,000. The Two-Day Event had a price tag of $2,620, the most expensive of FTOPS XV.

Other notable names making it deep in the Two-Day Event included newly minted Full Tilt Poker pro Caio Pimenta, who landed in ninth place for $32,000. Steve Yea, a South Korean Full Tilt sponsored pro, took $24,000 for 11th place, just ahead of Steve “gboro780” Gross, whose 13th place effort was worth $18,000. Dan “Wretchy” Martin and Shawn “phat_cat1” Luhman each received $11,000 for taking 20th and 23rd, respectively.

Next on tap for Full Tilt Poker is the MiniFTOPS XV, which kicks off on March 10th. The tournament series will mirror the schedule of FTOPS XV, but feature buy-ins that are one-tenth as large.
