Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

This past Sunday was a day that the regulars shined, as familiar names took down four of the Sunday majors, with a whole crop of notables making final table appearances as well. The Sunday Scoop: Moorman Wins The Brawl

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

The British pro, ranked #1 worldwide on PocketFives.com’s list of online poker tournament players in 2009, added another six-figure score to his bankroll winning $109,620.00.

While he has yet to have a real breakthrough live, Moorman continues to dominate online, now sitting fifth in the on the respected PocketFives 2010 worldwide rankings.

It appeared to be a good day all around for pros on Full Tilt as Benjamin “TheStein” Zumani, who final tabled the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure main event earlier this year, made fourth in the Sunday Mulligan for $21,466.25.

Meanwhile, Full Tilt Pro David Pham made seventh in the $750k Guaranteed, cashing for $18,262.00.

However, the day’s biggest score on Full Tilt was reserved for -zoopreme-, who took the $750k Guaranteed title and $140,577.70 from an event that drew 3,970.

Once again, the biggest tournament of the day was held over on PokerStars.

The Sunday Million drew 9,687 players creating a guarantee-breaking $1,937,400 prize pool.

A player calling himself Highway51 took home the most gold, cashing $271,241.22 for the victory.

But big name pros would not be shut out on PokerStars either, as Bryn “BrynKenney” Kenney won the Sunday 500 for $71,453.75, Tyler “puffinmypurp” Reiman made second in the $109 Rebuy for $62,569.32 and Joe “bigegypt” Elpayaa won the $215 Rebuy, defeating a final table that included James “mig.com” Mackey and Chad “lilholdem954″ Batista.

Finally, a well known pro took down UB’s biggest Sunday event as well.

Adam “AKAT11″ Katz, a World Poker Tour final tablist, earned $47,607.56 by winning UB’s $200k Guaranteed event, shining on a final table that also included Cliff “Johnnybax” Josephy.

Sunday Tournament Report 3/14/2010

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

Online poker tournaments fell off ever so slightly the past weekend, with tournament entries and prize pools finally seeing a drop after February’s FTOPS and Billion Dollar Hand promotions. Fortunately this week saw a lot less chip-chops and more final table action. There were also some great final tables with a lot of recognizable faces including some of the best online tournament players in the world.

The day started off with the Sunday Warm-Up which had been surpassing the $1,000,000 prize pool mark as of late.  While the tournament could not quite reach the seven-figure mark, it did remain in the #2 slot behind the Sunday Million with 4,594 players creating a $918,800 prize pool.  The Warm-Up was one of the few events to not come to a full conclusion as “lu_tricolor” and “CallMeIdiot” decided to do an even chop (with $10k on the side) despite there being about a 5,000,000 chip difference once heads-up play began.  The $10,000 sidebet went to lu_tricolor who took down the biggest score of his career on PokerStars by a wide margin. Before winning the Warm-Up he did not have a recorded score over $3,000 to his name on the world’s biggest poker site. Runner-up CallMeIdiot was ever so slightly more experienced having won the $30r for $7,149 last month.

PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up $750k Guaranteed
4,594 Entrants; $918,800 prize pool
*2-way deal

1. lu_tricolor $130,591.83
2.CallMeIdiot $120,591.82

6. emiwarg $29,861
7. F3dOrOv9191 $20,673
8. Mollpan $11,485
9. minisune $7,350

The Sunday Million could not quite make it to the $2,000,000 prize pool mark yesterday but it easily broke the $1.5M Guarantee.  The tournament fell about $65,000 shy of the $2M mark but did make up for it with a final table that came to a full conclusion. Over the past few months the million has been chopped many times in many different ways.  Last weekend the final four players decided to chop, which just kills a lot of the final table experience.  Luckily “Highway51″ would have no part of that this week as he shipped the biggest cash of his career for more than $271,000. What is interesting about this particular player deciding not to chop is that he did not have any major final table experience entering the world’s biggest tournament. Despite only having a few four-figure scores to his name he took the Million by storm and is now more than a quarter-million dollars richer.

The $500k fell victim to the chop bug yesterday despite having some very talented players reach the final table. One of the more recognizable names was Bryn Kenney who is a well-known high-stakes tournament, SNG, and cash game player.  Last year he was a big part of the nosebleed games on FullTilt that featured other stars such as Durrrr, Phil Ivey, and Patrik Antonius.  Kenney was joined at the final table by Joe “hoodini10″ and Ryan “DoeBoyFre$h” Fees. Udine is a top-20 ranked professional who won FTOPS Event #12 last August for $304,793. He also final tables the $1,050 WCOOP Event a month later for $74,0005 and nearly won the Warm-Up earlier in 2009, taking 2nd for $73,926.

Fees is a respected high-stakes cash game professional who dabbles in tournaments.  He has yet to hit a big score on PokerStars in tournaments but has won nearly $100,000 in a single day playing cash games.  On the live scene Fees won the PokerStars LAPT Season 2 Championship for $285,773 in November 2008.  The players at the final table seemed happy to see him go as they decided to chop-up the remaining prize pool as soon as he busted. While Kenney ended up taking 1st place in the $500k he actually received the smallest piece of the prize pool, just over $71,000.  This was the biggest score he has recorded in some time and possibly the biggest of his career on PokerStars.  On FullTilt, under the screen name “oneuponastar”, Kenney has won the $1k Monday once of $86,250 and finished runner-up in FTOPS Event #14 in 2008 for $56,496.  He has more than $1.5M in cashes between the two sites and more than $500,000 in earnings in cash games as well.

While the $500k had a few big names at the final table, it was the $215r that saw the most notable faces make the last nine. A large group of young internet professionals was on hand to battle it out for a $43,419 first place check and bragging rights. Making an appearance on the STR for the umpteenth time was Joseph “bigegypt” Elpayaa who has a ton of cashes on FullTilt and PokerStars in big events for more than $2,000,000 total. Trying to chase Elpayaa down was Corwin “mig.com” Mackey, Chad “lilholdem954″ Batista, and David “WhooooKidd” Baker.

Baker is well known in the internet poker world as “Bakes” but also made a splash in the live poker world in 2006 at the WPT Festa al Lago WPT  Event where he took 5th place for $125,240.  Online he has a bunch of big scores including a SCOOP bracelet for winning hte $5,200 PLO Event #19 last year for $215,000.  He also won the Sunday $500k back in October 2008 for $91,500 and playing under “Bussa Buss” on FullTilt he won the $200k rebuy last May for $62,738. Mackey has had a nice career playing online tournaments as well including a 2nd place finish in the Warm-Up last March for $78,354.  All the way back in 2006 he shipped the $1K WCOOP Event #14 for $580,212.50, one of the biggest scores in online history.  He has not had as much success on FullTilt under “Mig_com” but he did win the $1K Monday in 2008 for $90,750.

Finally, Chad Batista is one of the most notorious online tournament players around. Known for his brash behavior at the table, Batista has managed to gain a lot of detractors through out his illustrious career. Originally known as “m8kingmoves”, Batista was one of the first internet professionals to make a big score on the live scene when he won a WSOP Circuit event in 2006 for more than $262,000. Online he won the FullTilt $1M Guarantee in 2007 for $212,000 and shipped the Super Tuesday on Stars that same year. Playing as “jse81″ on FullTilt Batista has shipped more than $1.6M in cashes including FTOPS Event #10 last month for $225,000.

In the end it was Elpayaa getting the best of Mackey for the title and more than $43,000:

The final event of the day on PokerStars actually saw a nice increase this past weekend as nearly 1,600 players entered the Sunday Second Chance. With a prize pool of $319,800 the Second Chance bested its guarantee by nearly $120,000 yesterday.Eventual champion ” HardcorePawn” took home the biggest cash of his career for $57,564. Before this event he did not have a $10,000+ score to his name on PokerStars and his biggest win was in the $3r. Runner-up “dunkmaster50″ was much more experienced than his opponent but could not win a crucial flip for the majority of the chips. This was the 2nd biggest score of his career, well behind a $199,818 cash in the Million last September.

FullTilt continues to try to keep pace with PokerStars but it is proving to be quite a difficult task. While the Sunday Brawl continues to prosper, their biggest event, the $750k Guaranteed, is constantly wavering around the $750,000 mark.  It has come to the point where the Warm-Up on Stars is the clear-cut 2nd biggest event every Sunday.

The Sunday Brawl final table was graced by a few of the best online tournament players in the world. Winning the event was Chris “MoormanI” Moorman who is a top-10 ranked tournament professional and winner of multiple Tournament Leaderboards in 2009.  Moorman has multiple $100k+ scores including a 2nd in FTOPS event #17 last year for $204,000. He also made the final table of the $10k buy-in SCOOP Main Event last April, finishing in 8th place for $112,950. This score took him to nearly $4,500,000 in cashes on PokerStars and FullTilt alone over the past few years.

Moorman was joined by Russell “rdcrsn” Carson, another highly-ranked professional who has made our tournament report numerous times in the past. His biggest recent win was in the $500k on Stars for $88,198 in January.  Just like Moorman, Carson has a ton of great cashes and now has more than $3,000,000 in scores between the world’s two biggest poker sties.  There were a lot of FullTilt professionals on hand including Carlos Mortensen who finished in 26th place and Eric Froehlich who took 41st.  Bruno Stefanelli rounded out a trio of FullTilt “red pros” in the top100 with a 68th place finish.

FullTilt Sunday Brawl $400k Guaranteed

2. Towelfish $70,740

6. paulpod13 $18,360
7. ibininlondon $12,420
8. Biggest Donkey $8,640
9. RandomDonk $6,480

While three FullTilt professionals finished in the top-100 in the Brawl, it was David Pham who made the most noise on Sunday. “The Dragon” made a splash at the final table of the $750k Guaranteed, taking 7th place for more than $18,000. While he might have been the most notable face at the final table, there were a couple internet pros who made a lot more money.  Chris “brsavage” Savage and Alex “TheAssassinato” Fitzgerald finished in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.  Fitzgerald’s $55,580 score was the biggest of his career, just barely eclipsing another close call in the Super Tuesday last month for $51,260. He does have a major win to his name, as he was able to ship the Second Chance last June for $46,975.50

Savage finished in 2nd place but earned more than $109,000 due to chopping with eventual winner “-zoopreme-”. This was the biggest cash of his career and took him one step closer to the $1,000,000 mark between PokerStars and FullTilt. Prior to this score his best cash was a 3rd in the Million in 2007 for $67,420.  Other FullTilt professionals playing in the $750k were Bruce Buffer, Isaac “Menlo Baron, and Erick Lindgren.

7. David Pham $18,262
8. dwnbytheriver $14,292
9. timkrank $10,640

Capping off a great day of tournament poker was the $200k Sunday Mulligan.  Unfortunately no FullTilt sponsored professionals were able to crack the top-100 in the days final event. However, the absence of FullTilt professionals was made up for by the presence of a FTOPS champion in “bigdogpckt5s” who took home Event #9 in 2008 for $277,930. He also won Event #14 in 2009 for $75,573 as well as finishing 3rd in the Brawl last December for more than $82,000.  On PokerStars he shipped the big $109r for $77,976 in January and has more than $2.5M in cashes between the two sites.

“bigdogpckt5s” was set to face “LeoEleven” heads-up for $58,124.  The top-5o ranked LeoEleven is more well known by the nickname “thecronic420″ which he uses to play on PokerStars.  Almost one year ago to the day he finished 2nd in the Sunday Million for $132,176 and yesterday he arrived at the same fate. The $36,998 score barely rates in his top-5 cashes which include a 6th in the Million and a win in the $200k rebuy on FullTilt this January for $74,062.

Super Poker Sunday 03/14: Moorman Wins Brawl, Highway51 Grabs Sunday Million

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

The United States players were experiencing a bit of an “off” Sunday because of Daylight Savings Time, and though there seemed to be fewer players in some of the events on the Sunday major’s schedule, some actually saw an increase in registration. The changing of the clocks seemed to have little to do with it.

Sunday: $1 Million Guaranteed at SunPoker

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

The chips are piling up at Sun Poker for its $1 million guaranteed tournament on Sunday. With such a large prize pool, Sun is one of the best places to be for tournament action this weekend.

The tournament is the largest that Sun Poker, a popular member of the iPoker network, has to offer. It begins on Sunday, March 14 at 18:00:00 GMT. Though the buy-in is large, there are several qualifying satellites and the potential winnings are huge!

Buying into the game directly costs $500+35 – only a small portion of the million – but players can win a seat for as little 44 cents. On Saturday, Sun has several satellite tournaments with buy-ins from $.44 to $60+6. They even offer most of the same options as last chance events on Sunday before the game starts. For full satellite and main event details, visit Sun Poker’s web site and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Good luck playing for your share of at least $1 million.

Sunday Tournament Report 3/07/2010

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

Chip-chops were in the air yesterday as some of the day’s biggest events ended rather abruptly.  Not only did the two biggest events of the day fail to come to a normal end, they both ended with around half of the final table still in play. Unfortunately this has become more routine lately as more amateurs make deep runs and then become a bit tight at the final table. Instead of playing out the event they decide to cut out the variance and just chop up the prize pool based on current chip counts.

The Sunday Warm-Up was once again the 2nd biggest event of the weekend. While it will never catch up to the Million it has supplanted the $750k on FullTilt over the past six months. Even with an early start time the tournament has been hovering around 5,000 entrants for the past few months including surpassing the $1,000,000 prize pool mark on numerous occasions.  With six players remaining at the final table the rail was a bit shocked to see chip-chop talks started. Usually one or two players won’t agree and play will move on, but yesterday all six gave the necessary “I agree” in chat and that was that. With only $10,000 left to play for the final table finished quickly. Taking home the title was the actual chip-leader when the chop was made, Bolivar “Ramux” Palacios.  This was the biggest score of his career and the 2nd time he found himself at a major in the past 10 months. Last year he took 6th in FTOPS event #10 for $45,000.  9th-place finisher “shaaarrrp” almost won this very event last March, as he took 3rd place for $51,744.

6. ƒeezØ $48,163.71
7. gaffel $22,410
8. L C P $12,450
9. Shaaarrrp $7,968

The Sunday Million also fell victim to the chip-chop bug that was going around yesterday. This time is was slightly less ridiculous than the Warm-Up as “only” four players decided to chop the remaining pool.  This was another great showing for the Sunday Million as it topped the $2,000,000 for consecutive weeks after the 4-year anniversary in February. The Sunday Million is so far ahead of any other online tournament including the Warm-Up and $750k. In fact, its prize pool each week is more than those two combined.  Taking home 3rd place for $150,000 after the chop was “reelhugefish”. This was the biggest cash of his career and bested wins in both the $50k and $22k guaranteed on FullTilt for $48,147 and $23,413 respectively.

The $500k guaranteed got back on the right track this week after a bit if of lull last Sunday.  With nearly 1,100 entrants the day’s most prestigious event found itself on the right side of the $500,000 guarantee.  Runner-up “99NvrLosez” took home another big score on an impressive resume that includes a 2nd place finish in the Sunday Brawl last August for $63,201 and a win in the $125k for $51,082.50. “iloseflips24″ took home fourth place and more than $37,000, his biggest cash in recent years. In the past he has more than a handful of $10,000+ scores including a win in the $75k on FullTilt last month for $28,940.

The $215r had plenty on big names at the final table including 5th place finisher Dan “Wretchy” Martin who has made this report multiple times in the past.  The top-25 ranked poker professional has had a ton of big scores on PokerStars in the past namely from the $109r where he has more than five victories and seven $20k+ scores alone.  On FullTilt he final tabled FTOPS Event #12 last November for $72,750 and shipped the Sunday Brawl two years ago for $69,961.

Joining Martin was another highly-respected player, Pat “TorontoToro” Pezzin, who ended up falling during heads-up play.  He won the Wednesday Quarter Million last year for $80,080 and has nearly $1,000,000 in cashes between PokerStars and FullTilt. This $31,710 was merely the 4th biggest of his career on Stars and was his 2nd deep run in a Sunday major which includes a 3rd place finish in the Second Chance last year just days after his win in the $250k. Timothy “Tim0thee” Adams took home the title and one of the biggest scores of his career. He had come close to a major win last year when he took 9th in the SCOOP $5,200 buy-in $1.25M Guaranteed event for $44,685.

Tim “Tmay420″ West shipped the Sunday Second Chance yesterday for nearly $52,000.  West is one of the best online poker players in the world and there is no more proof of that than his $3,000,000 in cashes between PokerStars and FullTilt. On FTP he has multiple major final table cashes including a 4th in FTOPS Event #16 in 2008 for $83,827 and a 5th in the Sunday Brawl for $29,345.  This score was the biggest of his career on PokerStars which is baffling for someone with nearly $2,000,000 in scores on Stars alone. West is quite the grinder and even though he has a ton of five-figure scores he may not be as profitable as other players who have been fortunate enough to ship that one big score. Either way, he has proven time and time again that he is a great tournament player and a force to be reckoned with at any final table.

FullTilt has been able to spin some success off of FTOPS XV which completed last month. While the site cannot compete with PokerStars and their huge guarantees they have cemented their spot as the 2nd biggest site for weekend tournaments. The Sunday Brawl seems to have benefited the most from the FTOPS success as its prize pool has continued to surpass the $500,000 mark even after the tournament series finished. The $240+$16 Knock-Out event is a player favorite because it pays out $40 every time you knock out a fellow competitor.  This weeks winner “doublencs” busted 16 other players which paid him an extra $640 on top of his $118,187 win.

More than 20 of FullTilt’s sponsored professionals played in the early event including five-time WSOP bracelet winner Allen Cunningham. Joining Allen were a few other big names including Lee Watkinson, Isaac “Menlo” Baron, and Mike “timex” McDonald.  Baron ended up being the only professional to crack the top-200 as he finished in 192nd place for a min-cash of $465.  Runner-up “zhivago2″ is no stranger to success on FullTilt having won the FTOPS Main Event last November for a $418,839 pay-day.

FullTilt Sunday Brawl $400k Guaranteed
2,911 Entrants; $582,200 prize pool

1. doublencs $118,187
2. zhivago2 $76,268
3. Liiffe $56,473
4. Laurrra $42,501
5. DNA2RNA $29,692
6. NEONPILS99 $19,785
7. daaaaaaaaaang7 $13,391
8. Treadin Dank $9,315
9. Dearman2 $6,986

The $750k has been beating its guarantee easily lately and yesterday was no exception. While it is still more than $150,000 behind the Warm-Up on PokerStars it does solidly hold the #3 spot over tournaments like the Brawl and $500k.  Over 30 FullTilt “red pros” entered the tournament including Roy Winston who finished in 60th place.  Winston was joined in the money by fellow professionals Steve Brecher (507th place), Lee Watkinson (245th), Bill Gazes (447th place), and former WSOP Main Event winner Carlos Mortenson who finished in 374th.

“shiftzerg” took home the title and more than $147,000 in first-place money.  This was by far and away the biggest score of his career and only his 2nd five-figure cash. Before yesterday his biggest win was in the $42k Guarantee for $13,118 last month. Needless to say, it seems like 2010 has been a great year for this burgeoning poker player.

6. Miwa Iverson $25,582
7. MrAntoha $19,228
8. porkmastachi $15,048
9. Insomniac_pkr $11,202

Michael Tureniec, a FullTilt sponsored professional, final tabled the day’s final event yesterday taking 7th place for $7,407 in the Sunday Second Chance.  While Tureniec was a big name because of his highlighted professional status, the winner of this event is much more well known in the online poker world. As we touched on last week after he won the $215r on Stars, “boobySMILES” is a young nosebleed poker professional who is beginning to delve into tournaments. Just as I mentioned he plays under “UgotaBanana” on FullTilt and shipped his 2nd major in as many weeks. While his tournament scores are nowhere near the swings he plays for daily in cash games he must enjoy the structure or the rush of the events.

The Sunday Scoop: West Books Second Chance Win

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

West, who has close to $900k in live tournament earnings over the past four years, banked $51,853.44 for the win.

But he wasn’t the only well know pro to post some big numbers Sunday.

Jordan “Octavian_C” Rich won the $215 H.O.R.S.E. on PokerStars beating a field of 143 players while Tyler “puffinmypurp” Reiman, runner-up at the 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, final tabled the $109 Rebuy taking sixth.

Once again, the PokerStars Sunday Million was the biggest draw on an action-heavy Sunday with 10,123 players helping create a $2,024,600 prize pool, smashing the $1.5 million guarantee.

MAE9690 got the lion’s share of a four-way chop at the top and went on to secure the victory and the extra $30k the players had reserved for the winner.

In all, MAE9690 added $260k to his online bankroll, earning just shy of the $283,449.40 he would have won had no deal been made.

In the meantime, Full Tilt Poker’s $750k Guaranteed drew a considerably less 4,180 players with shiftzerg taking down the $147,629.24 first-place prize.

Online Poker: MAE9690 Wins Sunday Million

Опубликовал admin | Комментарии (0)

If the Sunday Million continues this trend of drawing 10,000 players each week PokerStars may just end up upping its guarantee to $2 million instead of the $1.5 Million it currently stands at. This week PokerStars’ flagship event once again drew more than 10,000 runners, generating a prize pool in excess of $2 million. [...]
